It is very important as Singapore is aging greatly every year so it is important to help reduce the time for Singapore to age.

Understanding the Elderly Challenge part 1
Elderly-friendly housings are very important as Singapore population is aging very greatly as families want less children to burden their precious finances and time.
We can have shorter home leases for the elderly as they are not going to live for more than 50 years. The prices of the houses would be cheaper and hence, would not really affect the elderly having problems to pay for their houses and not making the elderly worry about paying.
Housing Development Board(HDB) could build special flats just for the elderly to stay. The flats would be built in away where the furniture, design, items and architect of their house would be elderly friendly like automated toilet bowl lower kitchen sinks and cabinets so that it would be easier for the elderly.
Barrier free society is important for the elderly as they can move around Singapore freely without the help of someone, there are not obstacles and they can feel at ease walking around. With this, elderly can get more engaged in social activities like having lessons at community clubs. They can also get more "updated in life".
Affordable healthcare and eldercare are important as elderly gets sick easily and their children have no time to take care of then so they send them to eldercare. Affordable prices are important as elderly are not working and do not have a source of income if they do not have children or relatives that can help them.
Lifestyle and well-being are important for the elderly so that they can get in touch of the modern world and can get more engaged in social activities. These also allow elderly to interact with their family members and have a greater bond with each other.
The government is taking specific measures to facilitate the aging population by varying the years of leases to the houses for the elderly. Reverse Mortgage are also incorporated so that the elderly can have a source of income for daily necessities and can live in a flat without worrying about rain or shine. They are also having more flats to rent for the elderly as it is cheaper for the elderly.
The government can encourage elderly to take a endowment plans for their whole life so that most of the medical bills that are required to pay are covered for. It is cheaper in the long term as elderly fall sick easily. Another way is to add additional medisave so that they can pay off for their medical bills.
1.I can help to give suggestions to the HDB on elderly-friendly designs for the flats.
2.I can invent a new item that is caters to the elderly.
3.I can help to brainstorm about how we can help the elderly better with the authority.

NEWater visit on 22/03/2010
1. Today I had learnt what are the four national taps in Singapore. I had learnt where NEWater are from. I had also learnt how the undrinkable water is filtered.
2. NEWater is the process of recycling sewage water into potable water. NEWater is the fourth tap of Singapore's water supply, besides local water catchment, imported water and desalinated water.
3. I had learnt more about the process of changing sewage water into potable water.
4. I must save water by using the water from washing the rice to water the plants.

PIES!
ZINC Laptop Bag
P: The bag is big but only have one big components to place my books and laptop.
It is special as there is a bookstrap at the front of the bag.
I: When I was choosing my bag, I checked whether the bag was water or shock proof and whether it was strong enough to hold my laptop and books.
E: I felt very happy when my parents gave me this laptop bag as I would not worry if I drop my bag or whether water will sip in if it rains.
S: NIL
Something given to you by somebody older
P: It is a stylish ZINC wallet with compartments to put my cards(EZ-link), cash and photos.
I: I checked whether the colour combinations and pattern of the wallet are nice.
E: I felt very touched when my grandmother gave me a ZINC wallet.
S:
Taking an MRT ride
P: The train is very crowded at peak hour especially after work. They were many middle aged men and women in the MRT. It was quite crammed too.
I: I checked whether the commuters were considerate by letting their seats to the elderly or the disabled.
E: I felt happy when others let their seats to the elderly or disabled because foreigners would not think that Singaporeans are inconsiderate.
S: We must be considerate and be polite at all time.
Watching a documentary/movie
P: I went to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 with my friends after Christmas. The theatre was very packed with teenagers as it was school holiday.
I: I wanted to watch this movie as I watched the 1st series of the movie and the advertisement was also very funny.
E: I felt very amazed as the Chipmunks looked very real and realistic.

Sustainable Designs
Before any building development, contractors have to think about the sustainable design and the energy efficiency . Buildings which are built with a sustainable design or energy efficiency plan should have saved on running costs and there is concrete evidences that sustainable design promotes an increase in people likings through improved lighting and air quality .

ADMT lesson 1: personal reflection.
1. ADMT to me is about using creativity to design using technology. Using technology can make your art pieces look fabulous.
2. It is important because it would help me express my creativity and feelings when I am designing an art piece.
3.I would want to express my feelings and imagination when sketching and designing using technology.
The picture would be up soon.
Best Regards,
Bevan Koo.
